Coloring book pages from book illustrators for the U.S. Children's Book Week from the Every Child a Reader organization.
Where do you read? Does your whole family read together? Do you read with a pet? With your favourite stuffy? In your closet? Under your bed? While you're knitting? Have someone take a picture of you reading and send it to Libgroup@hisvietnam.com. We'll have a contest with different categories. Winners will receive prizes!
The Places You Go -- In Books
What setting of a book have you always wished you could visit? Hogwarts? Middle Earth? Narnia? The Titanic? Max’s wild place? 18th-century England? Twenty-thousand leagues under the sea? How about District 12?
Draw a picture and describe a favourite book setting as you see it. We’ll gather all the pages (A4 or A3, please) and create a book out of them. Be sure to sign your page.
When you read, oh, the places you'll go!
HIS will be having DEAR* time every day during Book Week at 11:00-11:15 a.m. Everyone in the school is invited to join in, grab a book to read or list to, and travel out of your home in your imagination.
Look under the Elementary and Secondary tabs on this site for lots of ideas for finding ebooks and audiobooks. Or email Mr. Richard and we'll have a book from the library. Ask Mr. Richard or your teachers for suggestions.
While you're reading, take a picture to submit for the "How I Read" photo contest.

Create a bookmark
Engage your creativity during Book Week to create a bookmark for yourself or others.
Option 1. Draw and color a design for a bookmark, or go wild and create a bookmark in a unique shape or with different kinds of materials. Here’s a page with lots of ideas, and here’s another. Take a picture of your best example and send it to Libgroup@hisvietnam.com. Be sure to keep the original -- when we can go back to school we’ll have a great display of them, and some of them we’ll print to share with everyone.
Option 2. Use Canva to create a bookmark online. Save your design as a PDF and send it to Libgroup@hisvietnam.com.
Picture Your Favourite Book
Show us a book you love by recreating the cover, a scene from the story, or one of the characters, using just the supplies you have with you at home.
Dress up as a character. Everyone loves this. We can’t have a parade down the halls this year, but we can share pictures and videos. Friday, 17 April, is the day.
A rather sad example, but it gives you the idea (the wolf is made from socks!).
Read a picture book, a chapter or an excerpt from a book, or a poem. Let us hear your most dramatic voices as you share wonderful words with the whole school.
