PYPX: Racism

Racism

Racism is the belief that some human beings are better than others simply because of their skin color, language, or nationality. It involves one group having power over the other and to carry out systematic discrimination, such as establishing policies and practices and shaping cultural beliefs that support these actions.

Racism has existed for thousands of years. In the last several centuries, some people have used the false idea that some races were naturally inferior to support their racist beliefs. This has led to hatred and discrimination against people of other races and resulted in many deaths. Attitudes began to change for the better in the twentieth century, but racism did not disappear. It remains a major problem in the twenty-first century.
